Hi again! It’s Heather, I can’t remember the last time I posted on here 2 days in a row. I’m so excited to be able to bring y’all so many blog posts this week from my friends!

Today, Lindsi McIntyre is posting about The Armor of God. I love this section of the bible. It really reminds me about God’s faithfulness and how He equips us for battle. We as Christians are engaged in a Spiritual war. The awesome news is, The War has been won! But, we are still fighting daily battles against the Devil and sin. Be sure to use your full armor to fight to the best of your ability.

The Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Did you know there is a war going on? According to these verses there is.

Some people might find that frightening. We are talking about a battle against darkness itself, after all. What can an average person hope to do in such a fight?

But that’s the very reason I love these verses.

Because even though it is warning us about the difficult road ahead, it is also promising that we are not going to be walking it alone. It tells us that God not only knows our struggles, He has also prepared us for the battle by giving us armor that can work against our non physical enemies. He promises that if we put on this armor we can stand against each one of the devil’s schemes.

You see, the devil may be “prowling like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8), but we are not simply defenseless victims. God wants us to use the wisdom we receive from him and the tools in the arsenal above to fight back.

In Matthew 10:16 we are called to be aware of the schemes of the evil one and his minions. “I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.”-Matthew 10:16

We are also called to prepare for the battles ahead in Ephesians 6:10, 2 Timothy 4:2, and 1 Peter 3:15.

“Finally be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.” -Ephesians 6:10

“Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage – with great patience and careful instruction.” 2 Timothy 4:2

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,” – 1 Peter 3:15

And finally to take our stand against the powers of darkness with the Lord at our side (Ephesians 6:11, 13, 18).

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Ephesians 6:11

“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:18

You see, as long as we walk in God’s power, we’ll never be defeated.
